Kia has once again impressed us with the New 2021 Kia Seltos
The 2021 Kia Seltos
expands the family of crossover SUVs, including the Sportage, Sorento and the
famous Telluride.
It is the smallest crossover of the lineup, but the 2021 Kia Seltos has several unique features and qualities to call its own.
With the Seltos, Kia sets the entry-level crossover SUV apart with an athletic look that leans into straight edges and backpedals on the curves. However, the optional roof colors and LED headlights make up for more expensive versions.
The top line interior
of the Seltos offers a 7-inch display in the cluster gauges with a 10.3-inch
touchscreen on the center dashboard. Additionally, passengers enjoy the
comfortable reclining 2nd-row seats. Luggage is loaded using the manual gate on
the Kia Seltos, which does not get a Power gate as an option. It scores well in
cargo space which is phenomenal with 26.6 cubic feet. There is enough space to
store things below the rear mat and next to the spare tire.
The ride height is also pretty good for a subcompact SUV. It makes it easy and comfortable to get in. The S and S Turbo trims are available with synthetic blue stitching.
Features available on
the interior include:
- Heated front row seats (AWD
models)
- Automatic temperature control
- Wireless charging
Exterior:
The 2021 Kia Seltos offers an LED light bar across the headlights. It creates a classy look and appearance at the front. The LED daytime running lights are available on all trims except the base LX. There is also a faux dual exhaust tip that can be seen at the rear. It seems more visually appealing to many as opposed to the front.
Certain trims come with 17-inch wheels, and the turbo engine trims have 18-inch wheels. It also includes heated outside rearview mirrors and body cladding for showcasing a rugged SUV look around the tires and the sides, and at the rear. It indeed adds to the visual appeal of the Kia Seltos. Roof rails are also added to all models except the base model. A rear spoiler is seen on all the trims here. Shoppers get a power sunroof as standard on the EX and optional on the SX Turbo trim.
Trim Levels:
The 2021 Kia Seltos is
available in 5 trim levels:
- S
- LX
- EX
- S Turbo
- SX Turbo
The EX trim level offers excellent value for money. The SX is heavily loaded with equipment. All Wheel Drive (AWD) is an option for all the trims, though it may or may not be essential for the buyers' requirements.
Engine Specifications:
The 2021 Kia Seltos
comes with two engine options. Both provide excellent fuel economy figures. The
details of the two engines are:
- A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder
powertrain engine with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.
- A 1.6-liter, the four-cylinder turbocharged engine gives 175 horsepower with 195 lbs-ft of torque.
While the 2.0-liter engine is mated to Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the 1.6-liter turbo-powered one is fitted with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can expect the vehicle to deliver a smooth and comfortable ride with a short handle for an SUV.
Safety Features:
The 2021 Kia Seltos
has some advanced tech and comfort features.
Safety features are collectively classified as the 2021 Kia Seltos Driver Assist Technology.
It includes the
following:
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
Rear
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
All versions of the
Kia Seltos ride on a strut front suspension. The front-drive versions have a
torsion-beam rear axle, and the all-wheel-drive versions get a multi-link rear
suspension.
The AWD system splits
power equally front to rear; however, braking applied to either front wheel
helps the Seltos cut corners more easily.
The Seltos also offers
7.2 inches of ground clearance and are fitted with 17 or 18-inch wheels.
The 2021 Kia Seltos rides on a 103.5-inch wheelbase. The rear seats recline for comfort as they fold down to boost cargo storage.
The base Kia Seltos comes with touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It also has power features, Bluetooth and air conditioning inside. With the SX trim and on its options list, the Seltos gains Bose sound system, wireless smartphone charging, and ambient lighting. Safety features comprise active lane control, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors and collision avoidance with automatic emergency braking.
